Specialists such as ACAS, QDOS (Chamber HR Services provider) and the Chartered Institute of Personal Development (CIPD) provide presentations featuring legislative changes, latest case laws and specialist subjects such as developing framework competency and leadership programmes.

Chamber members are encouraged to host these events to showcase their business.

Manufacturing & Engineering Forum

Manufacturing & Engineering ForumA specialist forum to provide the platform to network, share best practice and participate in discussions about a wide range of issues affecting manufacturers.

Topics covered include innovation, sustainable development, diversification, enhancing skills, trading conditions and funding opportunities.

Chamber members take it in turns to host events and have the option to include a tour of their premises as part of the agenda.

Schools Forum

Schools ForumThis forum is designed to cover key issues such as how to build robust links with business, developing employability skills in students and to offer an environment to develop and share best practice.

The agenda of this forum, and its intention, is to share thoughts, observations and concerns, to be an information-sharing environment and to include speakers to present on relevant topics of interest.

Ian Greenaway, Chamber Board member and past Chamber President set his term in office with a particular emphasis placed on encouraging businesses and education and training providers to work together in true partnership to unlock the potential of our school-leavers and young adults and this forum promotes this theme.

This forum is currently aimed at secondary and primary schools and academies based in the cities of Derby, Nottingham and the counties of Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.

Sustainability Forum

Sustainability ForumThis forum shares best practice of green business models that both save money and protect the environment by showcasing firms that have embedded sustainability into their business.

The Chamber is keen to help members identify the opportunities sustainability presents, understand and manage the risks and implement their own environmental solutions.

Transport & Logistics Forum

Transport & Logistics ForumMeeting bi-monthly, this forum aims to address specific issues affecting businesses such as rail distribution, capital investment into the region, impact of trading times, improving links to ports and airports, impact of new regional and national distribution centres and issues of transporting dry goods.

Bank of England Forum

Bank of England ForumThis Forum is an opportunity for Chamber members to influence the Bank of England who seek to gauge current levels of business confidence. The Bank is keen to listen to local business' observations about late payment issues, changes to the business rates system, access to finance, and the effects of Government-backed lending schemes (amongst other issues firms might like to raise).

Issues arising from these discussions are fed into Banks Monetary Policy Committee, who set the monthly interest rates affecting us all.
