D2N2 is the Local Enterprise Partnership for Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.

D2N2 Low Carbon Adviser
Salary circa: £35,000 to £40,000
Location: Nottingham
Fixed Term: 4 days per week pro rata
May 2016 to 31 March 2018 (possibility of extension)

This post has been created to meet D2N2 LEPs development and provides an outstanding opportunity for the right individual.

Job Purpose:-
Promote excellence in the low carbon economy within D2N2, including supporting the development of high quality, compliant applications to the D2N2 notional allocation of European Structural and Investment Fund funds.

The key areas of responsibility are:-

  • To support the implementation of the D2N2 Technical Assistance strategy to establish a pipeline of high quality propositions for the use of European Structural and Investment Fund funds with particular emphasis on the low carbon priority axis and the low carbon module of the D2N2 Community Programme, potentially offering support under the climate change, environment and resource efficiency as required.

  • Identify and promote good practice in supporting the development of the low carbon economy, particularly using European Regional Development Fund.

  • Support and advise potential applicants to develop high quality European Structural and Investment Fund low carbon bids with strong local strategic fit.

  • Analyse projects to support their development and work with partners to help shape European Regional Development Fund compliant proposals.

  • Provide advice and guidance on European Structural and Investment Fund project development and funding issues

  • Support the development and implementation of marketing and communications approaches to effectively demonstrate the opportunity and value of local European Structural and Investment Fund funds and raise awareness amongst potential applicants of European Structural and Investment Fund low carbon funding opportunities.

  • Work with the D2N2 Low Carbon Hub (and its partners) to support Small Medium Enterprise businesses in the sector to develop their capabilities and grow their business.

  • Work with high growth businesses to advise them on the best options to respond to and invest in low carbon solutions that will lead to improved efficiencies and growth within their business.

  • Assisting potential project applicants to make high quality applications to the D2N2 European Regional Development Fund programmes.

  • Raising awareness of the 2014 %u2013 2020 D2N2 European Regional Development Fund programmes to enable potential applicants to understand the nature and range of opportunities available.
  • Ideally applicants will possess:-

  • Educated to Degree level in an appropriate discipline.

  • Experience of successfully promoting the development of projects to reduce carbon and promote sustainable economic growth.

  • Experience of working successfully with and technical knowledge of European Regional Development Fund.

  • Knowledge of other relevant European funding is desirable.

  • Experience of leading projects and programmes achieving effective and demonstrable outcomes.

  • Experience of working with Small Medium Enterprises providing advice around Low Carbon and energy efficiencies.

  • Demonstrable experience of managing complex multi-agency programme and projects.

  • Is adaptable, receptive to new ideas, and willing and able to adjust to new demands and circumstances.

  • Displays assertiveness and independence of thought and action without overstepping agreed boundaries.
