This session explains the key data protection terminology used in data protection legislation and outlines the main principles of the GDPR

Processing, Consent and Subject Rights

This session dives in to obtaining consent lawfully and according to the GDPR and looks at the rights that data subjects have, including the right to be forgotten and the right to access personal information.

  • Legal obligations
  • Data Subject rights and how they may use them
  • Obtaining consent including methods for collecting data and what happens when the subject withdraws consent

Data Controller and Processor Obligations

This session looks at the responsibilities of data controllers and data processors under the GDPR including…

  • Who is a Controller and what do they need to do in order to protect their organisation?
  • Controller obligations what key steps must they take
  • Cross-border data transfer

  • Reporting breaches, what you need to say and to who
  • Processor obligations

Course outcome:

By the end of this course, learners will:

  • Understand the purpose of the GDPR.
  • Be able to explain what information falls under the GDPR.
  • Have a road map knowledge to implement GDPR compliant processes within their organisation.
  • Have a clear understanding of what steps they need to take in regards to data security.

Who should attend:

This course has been designed to deliver value to both micro businesses and larger SME's as the changes will affect both types in the same way. If you control any data within your organisation you need to be aware of GDPR and have a strategy in place to manage it's impact from May next year.

Course delivery:

This course is delivered from the Chambers modern training facilities and is limited to a maximum of 12 delegates. Lunch and refreshments are provided as part of this course. Please note, there is no requirement for delegates to bring any stationery or IT equipment unless otherwise stated in the joining instructions.

About the trainer:

Lee Callender will be leading this training and on hand to answer any questions you may have regarding GDPR.

Over the last 2 years Lee has been studying the impact GDPR is going to have for both his business which handles a lot of data and how his clients need to prepare, so is full of practical answers to difficult questions. 

Whilst this subject can be technical the course is guaranteed to be delivered in a ‘jargon free arena’ with everyone encouraged to ask questions to ensure they leave with an action plan for their organisation.
