The Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) has been in use since 1875 providing businesses and households with reliable communications

A PSTN is a combination of telephone networks used worldwide, including copper cables, switching centres, cellular networks and satellites

In 2017 Openreach announced the UK PSTN will be switched off at the end of 2025, however many businesses do not understand the magnitude of the change

The more pressing date is Sept 2023 as PSTN products will stop being sold e.g., you cannot order, change, upgrade, move provider or increase capacity. A forced, unplanned and unbudgeted move to Digital may have to happen

In summary, all analogue phone lines need to move to digital and some devices  may need to be upgraded as they will not work in the future

In addition to the telephony services this will impact other areas such as cctv, payment terminals, fax machines, alarm and fire systems  - this is a highly complex, time bound activity which could bring significant disruption to businesses yet to move to ‘All IP’

On the day, this session will cover:

  • Analogue switch off - Overview, context and issues - Damian Fisher, Managing Director, Hexagon Consultants Limited
  • Insurance Considerations Insurance Considerations – How to Stay Covered – Chris Mallett, Associate Director, Aston Lark Limited
  • Q&A
