This event is open to all businesses looking for business development opportunities, available as part of the HS2 supply chain. It will provide practical information on what is required of businesses to access the wide-ranging procurement opportunities that HS2 will bring to the East Midlands.

The session is brought to you in partnership with Leicestershire County Council and the Leicester and Leicestershire Business Gateway Growth Hub.

Detail

The session will be led by Robert Kay, Technical Director at RDS Global and sets out to support businesses understand the value of Cyber in an organisation or industry, what is available to enable businesses to have best practice and how this supports being supply chain ready.

Cyber Essentials is an annually-renewed certification, coordinated by HM Government's National Cyber Security Centre and aims to reduce your exposure to common cyber threats.

The requirement to be Cyber Essentials compliant is included in a number of supplier criteria set out by HS2 Ltd and subsequently will be pushed down to sub-contractors e.g. Balfour Beatty Vinci's supplier minimum requirements for HS2 (N1+N2) requires all subcontractors that handle Building Information Management/Bill of Quantities to have a valid Cyber Essentials certificate.

Again this requirement is starting to be included in more and more public sector contract requirements across all sectors handling data. To explore this for your business is good business practice which also supports any opportunities to bid for, or be part of the supply chain, for public sector contracts.

More on the opportunities for your business

The aim is to raise awareness of the opportunities available and highlight that these do not just apply to the engineering and construction sectors, but across a wide and diverse portfolio for all business sizes.

This event forms part of a series of practical sessions which will support businesses to not only be “Fit4HS2” but also for other public sector contracts.

Even if the opportunities for HS2 are not for you this is good business practice, to ensure your business is ready to apply for a range of other future opportunities. As the Government plans to bring forward infrastructure investment, promising to “build back better, build back greener, build back faster” - this is the time to ensure your business is ready to take advantage of these opportunities and be fit to supply.

What will HS2 be buying?
