From 1 April 2019, VAT registered businesses operating above the £85K threshold will be required to submit their VAT returns to HMRC in a compliant digital format as part of their Making Tax Digital programme (MTD).
To comply with the changes businesses may need to change or upgrade their existing accounting software system and those with manual systems will need an alternative.
Businesses may also need to change the way they record transactions within the accounting software to comply with the "digital links" rules.
To help businesses understand what MTD means for them, the Chamber has partnered with Shorts Chartered Accountants and is hosting this MTD workshop.
- What is MTD?
- How does it affect my business?
- What do I need to do to be compliant?
- What happens if I get things wrong or don't comply?
- What does the future hold?
We'll highlight suitable software solutions - even if you already use an online accounting platform, you may still need to change how you record and submit information to HMRC to remain compliant.
Finally, there'll be a short presentation on research and development tax relief, an often under-claimed but very valuable tax incentive that rewards innovative businesses.
Time is running out! Don't leave understanding how the rules will affect your business until the last minute, as you may not have time to put in place the necessary software or new processes.
PLEASE NOTE: A maximum of two delegates per organsiation will be accomodated at this event.
