Apprenticeships – How We Do It

What are Apprenticeships?

There is a common misconception that Apprenticeships are just for manual, field-based roles and for entry-level staff, usually just out of school or college –but that’s just not the case anymore.

Apprenticeships are work-based training schemes designed to help you foster emerging talent in your business. They combine work with study and result in a programme which is truly work-focused.

You can use apprenticeships to support new employees, or people already in your business when they move into new roles.

The technical and professional disciplines on offer range from entry-levy qualifications all the way through to degree-level. The new employer-designed standards mean that organisations can implement a programme that really fits the roles in their business.

Why the Chamber?

The Chamber has been delivering high quality Apprenticeships in the East Midlands for over 30 years, inspiring individuals and businesses to realise their potential and achieve their goals.

Our programmes are helping clients to attract and retain talent, professionalise the workforce and migrate existing L&D activity to Apprenticeship programmes.

As the region’s largest business support organisation, we make it our business to understand each individual organisation’s needs and we offer one-to-one support and guidance to both employer and learner from the get-go to completion.

Our unique Apprenticeship managed service approach enables clients to maximise the potential they can release from publicly-funded programmes and the Apprenticeship Levy.

The Levy

In the 2015 summer budget, the Government announced plans to introduce an Apprenticeship Levy for large employers from April 2017. It requires employers to contribute to a training fund which can only be spent on Apprenticeships.

Do you want to know how the Apprenticeship Levy impacts your organisation? Our experts offer a free consultancy service to help employers like you prepare for the levy and maximise the benefits you’ll get from the changes.

For further details on the Levy, see the Apprenticeship Levy explained document.
