This is a eleven-day course - 2 x 5 day blocks of training + 1 day of exams

The NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety is an ideal choice for those who want to kick start a career as a health and safety professional. It combines extensive coverage of the main legal requirements for occupational safety in the UK with an outline of common workplace hazards and how to tackle them.
The National General Certificate is divided into three units, each of which is assessed separately:
- Management of health and safety (NGC1)
- Control of workplace hazards (GC2)
- Health and safety practical application (GC3)
NGC1 – Management of Health & Safety
- Foundations in Health and Safety
- Health and Safety Management Systems – Plan
- Health and Safety Management Systems – Do
- Health and Safety Management Systems – Check
- Health and Safety Management Systems – Act.
GC2 – Control of Workplace Risks
- Workplace hazards and risk control
- Transport hazards and risk control
- Musculoskeletal hazards and risk control
- Electrical safety
- Fire safety
- Chemical and biological health hazards and risk Control
- Physical and psychological health hazards and risk control
Unit GC3 - The practical application of Health and Safety good practice.
Learners are expected to have a good understanding of spoken and written English.
For learners, the NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety gives you the vital knowledge you need to ensure health and safety in your workplace, and is a great foundation for building a career in the industry.
You will discover new skills and techniques with practical applications and learn to perform better in your role.
Two written, 2 hour examinations and a practical assignment.
The examinations are assessed and moderated by NEBOSH. Successful learners will gain the full NEBOSH National General Certificate.
Holders of the National General Certificate are entitled to Associate Membership (AIOSH) of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH). The qualification also meets the academic requirements for Technical Membership (Tech IOSH) of IOSH and Associate Membership (AIIRSM) of the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM).
The NEBOSH National General Certificate has been accredited and credit rated by the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA). It sits in the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF) at SCQF Level 6 with 15 SCQF credit points.
This course is delivered in partnership with our Chamber member OMS at their training centre in Coalville, Leicestershire. Their modern training centre is conveniently located right in the centre of the UK in Leicestershire, and is just two miles from J22 of the M1. Free onsite parking is available.
