While some companies are planning for the challenges and opportunities ahead, in the short term, the vote in favour of leaving the EU has had little, if any, immediate impact on indirect or direct taxes.

Few changes are likely to occur while the secession negotiations take place. The potential future relationship between the UK and the EU is still unclear. A close association is likely to have less impact on many tax issues, but a more remote link will have a greater impact.

During this session, delivered by Chamber Patron, Duncan & Toplis, Kevin Edwards, Tax Advisory Director, will be exploring the benefits of effective tax planning for businesses and their owners. More specifically, he will be discussing:

  • How can Research and Development tax credits help companies get back on track?
  • Protection of assets or wealth through holding company planning.
  • Incentives for key team members with employee share schemes.
  • Tax efficient exit planning or winding up.

We will also review the impact of the current pandemic, coronavirus.
