This is a First Aid Industry Body accredited full First Aid at Work REQUALIFICATION in a blended format.
This is a re qualification which means you should have a current First Aid At Work certificate (expired no more than 30 days before the first day of the course).
You will complete an Elearning module followed by one full day face to face. The learning module must be complete before the face to face session. You will be required to attend the full day.
The course competencies include:
– Understand the roles and responsibilities of a First Aider
– Assessing an incident including the Primary survey
– Managing an unconscious breathing casualty
– Managing an unconscious casualty who is not breathing normally (CPR and AED)
– Managing a seizure
– Handling a choking emergency
– Dealing with a burn or bleed injury including recognising and treating shock
– Responding to a severe allergic reaction (Anaphylaxis)
– Dealing with Minor Injuries such as bumps and scrapes
– Help a casualty with injuries to bones, muscles and joints
– Help a casualty with suspected head, neck and spinal injuries
– Help a casualty with a suspected chest injury
– Help a casualty with an eye injury
– Provide First Aid to someone who has been poisoned
– Help a casualty with a suspected major illness including
– Heart attack
– Stroke
– Asthma
– Diabetes
Candidates will be assessed through continual practical assessment, scenarios, teamwork and verbal reasoning.
Upon successful completion candidates will receive an FAIB accredited certificate valid for 3 years.
