Final Checklist for VAT and Duty

The UK is scheduled to depart the European Union on October 31, 2019. This will bring change for businesses of every size and sector. While some companies are planning for the challenges and opportunities ahead, Chambers of Commerce believe that all firms – not just those directly and immediately affected – should be undertaking a Brexit 'health check' and a broader test of existing business plans. Time spent thinking through the changes that Brexit may bring to your firm could yield real dividends in future.

During the session Michael Plant, Tax Director and Andy Ilsley, Indirect Tax Director, RSM, will recap the key features of ‘no deal’ and the impact on supply chain.

Andy will review the 2020 EU VAT Reform which comes in to play from 1 January, for EU cross-border supplies of goods, including what the ‘four quick fixes’ are. 

There’ll be a discussion on whether or not the Authorised Economic Operator status is the solution for post-Brexit trading and what the customs duty impact and potential mitigations are.

Andy will also cover:

• Import/export procedures and documentation required

• Transitional Simplified Procedures, EORI numbers and postponed import VAT accounting
