Bitesized learning offer

Derbyshire businesses in the food and drink, healthcare, tourism, leisure, culture and hospitality sectors will be able to get free training sessions as part of a one-month offer this June. The Learning and Skills Council (LSC) is teaming up with Business Links and colleges and training providers across the East Midlands to offer this opportunity. If you are a small or medium sized company in one of these sectors, your employees could brush up their skills by signing up to one of the taster courses being offered this June.Learning providers across Derbyshire and the East Midlands are offering short courses with the aim of upskilling the local workforce in these sectors and encouraging employers to address some of the key skills issues facing their sector. In the Food and Drink industry, for example, courses will address food technology skills, recruitment and retention and language and cultural issues. Communications is a course topic important to the Tourism, leisure, culture and hospitality sector while in Healthcare the first steps to gaining an NVQ level 2 qualification will be covered. Backed by Business Link, who will guide the employer into the best workforce development options for their company, and strongly supported by learning providers across the region, the campaign aims to engage employers and their employees from small to medium sized companies who may not have had the chance to undertake learning lately. The taster courses have no direct costs and as they are short courses they can take place with little disruption to the working week. If you are an employer in these sectors and want to find out more, please call 0844 443 2150 or visit www.tastercourses.co.uk for further details.                For further information, please contact Natasha Atkinson on 0116 228 1855 or email Natasha.Atisnlcgvukno@s.o.k
