Local Enterprise Growth Initiative

Local authorities in Bolsover and Derby are amongst six recipients of a £10million fund to help them develop proposals to improve the economies of deprived areas under the Government’s Local Enterprise Growth InitiativeThe aim of the Local Enterprise Growth Initiative (LEGI) is to boost local incomes and employment opportunities for enterprise and investment by increaseing total entrepreneurial activity among the population; supporting the growth and reducing the failure rate of locally-owned businesses; and attracting appropriate inward investment and franchising, making use of local labour resources. As part of the initiative local autorities will be expected to develop partnerships with other local and regional organisations, including RDAs and the private sector, and enable them to put forward a case for improving the economies of their areas.
