DNCC Member Makes National Awards Shortlist
Simon Mackney, a director and professional photographer at DNCC member Mackney Photography, was invited to a national awards ceremony at the Houses of Parliament recently after his images were shortlisted in the final of a competition celebrating British design and manufacturing.
Eight of Simon’s photographs have been shortlisted for a nationwide competition run by the EEF, the manufacturer’s organisation and sponsored by Canon. Among his entries was Brawn GP Test Car, an image of a Brawn GP aerodynamics test car at Brackley, Northamptonshire.
The Made in Britain Photography Awards 2012 received over 800 images that celebrated the best of British design and manufacturing in three categories, professional, amateur and young person aged 14-19.
Simon’s images, which can be viewed in the slideshow below, will be exhibited in the House of Commons as part of the total 87 shortlisted entries from around the country in December.
Richard Halstead, Region Director for Midlands, at EEF, said: "The standard of entries to the competition continues to grow and, yet again this year, they have highlighted the modern and vibrant sector that is modern manufacturing. Every shortlisted image is to be applauded for capturing the wide variety of products and processes that keeps UK manufacturing world class."
Nikki Paine, Manufacturing Business Development Manager, at Canon UK, added: "Canon’s sponsorship of the Made in Britain Photography Awards 2012 is part of our ongoing commitment to the manufacturing industry, and valued partnership with the EEF. We’ve been really impressed with the quantity and quality of entries received as part of these awards. A picture can speak a thousand words, and Canon is pleased to support the industry’s effort to change perceptions of manufacturing, and showcase its inherent spirit of innovation, through the power of image."
