Free \Inspiring Business Innovation\ Workshops
The Inspiring Business Innovation event, part of Inspiring Derby Week, is an opportunity to get involved in an exciting programme of support available from Derby City Council to help your business get connected, innovative, grow and become more energy efficient.
It takes place in the Roundhouse's Engine Shed Restaurant, from 7.30am-10.30am on Tuesday 25 June.
At the event, you can attend a series of mini workshops run by business advisers where you can find out more about how these projects can benefit your business, and get practical advice and support. It is also an ideal opportunity to meet and network with businesses already involved, discuss any issues with the business advisors and enjoy a complimentary breakfast.
The programme includes information about:
Derby Enterprise Growth Fund (DEGF) - a £20 million finance scheme offering grants, structured loans and equity investment to Derby businesses and those that operate within the city’s travel to work area. The fund focuses on stimulating innovation, expansion and investment in enterprises with the key objective of creating jobs. DEGF can fund a range of activity including:
- purchasing capital equipment
- research and development of products, processes and systems
- investment to enable additional overseas trade
- building infrastructure
- workforce development
- working capital
The workshop will outline what funding opportunities the DEGF presents to business and offers you an chance to explore any ideas you may have which may form an application.

Bespoke - a scheme offering small and medium sized enterprises free energy advice and audits with access to grants of up to £5,000 for energy efficiency improvements to buildings or equipment. An expert energy consultant will be available at the event to answer your energy questions and provide practical advice on making real cost savings.

Connected - an exciting local sustainable travel initiative which aims to Keep Derby moving by providing high quality travel information; support and travel incentives (including grant funding) to businesses and individuals in Derby.
At the event there will be an opportunity to talk directly to a Travel Advisor who will offer information and guidance on how to apply for the business grants, talk you through the process of creating a tailored travel action plan and access support through Connected. Registration will be on a first come first served basis. We will endeavour to allocate you in the timeslot of your choice, but if a particular presentation is oversubscribed, we may have to reallocate you to a different timeslot.
