Online trading is harming the High Street
A survey of 280,000 online jobs found that firms hiring experts to create ecommerce sites was up 19 per cent in the first three months of 2013.
The results reveal that British small businesses are moving online in order to become more competitive and signals even greater competition for high street retailers.
“Ecommerce is dominating the consumer retail landscape. High street dinosaurs who are unwilling to compete will soon be consigned to retail history,” said Matt Barrie, CEO of Freelancer.co.uk, which carried out the survey.
This data was extracted from 283,490 jobs posted on Freelancer.co.uk in Q1 2013, up from 261,003 in Q4 2012.
