Central Technology wins Government Cloud contract

Ian Snow and Richard Thompson of Central TechnologyIT and Telecommunications provider, Central Technology, is the first Derbyshire-based IT company to win highly sought-after status as a supplier for the Government’s G-CLOUDiii framework.

From now, all Government departments and UK public sector businesses have access to leading IT services from the Chesterfield business.

Central Technology’s services, which include cloud servers, remote backup and disaster recovery are now available through the HM Government G-Cloud CloudStore catalogue –a searchable database of over 700 businesses, including many SMEs.

Ian Snow, MD of Central Technology, said: ‘We are delighted to be one of the first IT businesses in the region to be part of the G-CLOUDiii framework.

“The opportunity to be on the CloudStore as an IT supplier allows us to share our expertise and unique cloud solutions, such as Central Cloud Drive, Central Cloud E-Mail and Cloud Servers.

“Because we are ISO27001 accredited we have the confidence that all the solutions we offer are as secure as possible, something which is of utmost importance to the public sector in particular."

The G-CLOUD is a government initiative designed to cut back public sector spending on IT and help boost small to medium sized IT business by encouraging a regular influx of new suppliers and refreshed services to all public sector businesses.

“The ultimate aim is to drive competition, greater choice and flexibility for buyers.

“It also allows ICT suppliers, particularly SMEs, to do business with Government organisations through a simpler and easy to use framework.

“This new initiative strengthens and accelerates the push to cloud computing and requires all central government departments to consider public cloud first in any IT purchasing.”
