High Peak MP Andrew Bingham Visits Glossop Work Programme Centre
The Conservative MP for High Peak was keen to see the work being done to help individuals on the Work Programme, which is being delivered in his constituency by public service provider A4e, in partnership with its sub-contractor Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Chamber of Commerce (DNCC), for the Department for Work and Pensions.
He also spoke with staff delivering the Work Programme during his recent visit to DNCC’s offices in Norfolk Square, Glossop. He was particularly interested in the number of customers who have been helped into work and the new challenges facing the Work Programme as it enters its third year.
The Work Programme provides tailored support for unemployed customers who need more help to undertake active and effective job-seeking.
After the visit, Mr Bingham said: “I was very interested to see how the work programme is working in the High Peak. I was particularly interested to speak to people on the programme and hear positive feedback from them on how they thought it was helping them back into work.”
A4e has been working hard to establish an excellent team of professional staff with a range of specialist skills to support individuals across the UK. The flexibility given to providers of the Work Programme has meant that A4e has been able to create a number of innovative programmes and specialist training to support local customers.
James Clark-Allan, A4e’s South Yorkshire Partnership Manager, said: “We are really proud of the work A4e and DNCC are doing in Glossop, of the team and of the people we are helping, and we were pleased to be able to demonstrate this to our MP. It was a very positive visit and a great chance for some of the job-seekers we support to speak directly to their local representative about their experiences.”
Sarah Temperton, DNCC's Head of Training, said: “DNCC was delighted to welcome High Peak MP Andrew Bingham to the Glossop office recently to showcase the work the team is doing to help support the unemployed and get them back into employment. The scheme is starting to make a real difference to the lives of local people in the High Peak and it was great to be able to share this with our local MP.”
A4e is delivering the Work Programme on behalf of the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and Job Centre Plus. The programme is part-funded by the European Social Fund (ESF).Back
