Four DNCC members win share of £506m Regional Growth Fund payout
Companies and organisations in line for a share of £506m of Government Regional Growth Fund include four Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Chamber of Commerce members.
The winning bidders will be announced later today (Thursday 11 July) by Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg.
Fourteen East Midlands firms are among 102 countrywide to have successfully bid for the cash.
The DNCC members include Chinook Science, Global Derbyshire, Frontier Agriculture and Toyota.
George Cowcher, Chief Executive of DNCC, said: “It’s good that we have some of this money coming to East Midlands companies and I’m delighted four of our members, in one case one of our patrons, are on the list of recipients.
“But this announcement doesn’t put that money in their bank accounts and it is imperative that delivery of the cash isn’t delayed by excessive due diligence or making firms and organisations jump through loads of red tape hoops.
“It is essential this money is released quickly so that it can be used to create jobs and opportunities now, while the economy is looking as though it is about to turn the corner.”
Nick Clegg will make his announcement while visiting car maker Toyota, at Burnaston, which will use the money to help increase its ability to develop and produce new generations of Toyota cars here in the UK, securing jobs and creating opportunities for the future.
Chinook Science, of Nottingham, specialises in renewable energy, fuels and metals, Global Derbyshire is a Derbyshire County Council small business support project and Lincoln-based Frontier Agriculture is the UK's leading crop inputs and grain marketing business, offering efficient management of the whole arable supply chain.Back
