Derby County scores superfast
Derby County Football Club has linked up with Ripley-based Zycomm Electronics to provide faster broadband internet speeds to the Pride Park area.
Zycomm’s Wireless Broadband Division, W3Z Broadband, has launched its wireless broadband service at the Rams’ Stadium.
The joint venture has seen Zycomm install equipment at the stadium, giving both businesses and homes within sight of the arena a high quality fast internet service without any need for telephone lines.
The equipment at Pride Park Stadium does not impact visually and avoids the use of radio towers.
W3Z was established by Zycomm nine years ago, to provide a high quality service delivered by wireless technology in Central Derbyshire.
The service suffers none of the speed variation suffered by many internet services delivered over telephone lines.
Once installed the W3Z service supports low cost IP telephony, turning the tables on traditional wired methods of communicating.
Derby County’s Chief Operating Officer, John Vicars, said: “We were aware that some Pride Park businesses were suffering from very slow broadband speeds, so we were obviously pleased when approached by Zycomm to work with them to offer their superfast broadband service.
“They have a tried and tested solution which should greatly benefit the local business community.”
Zycomm’s Chairman, Ian Sneap, said: "W3Z has responded to demand from businesses on Pride Park with a service that exceeds their requirements.
"W3Z is available throughout central Derbyshire and much of the Peak District and now serves several thousand satisfied customers across the region.”Back
