Lee Does Business with ‘Secret Millionaire’
A Burton and South Derbyshire College Business student has secured employment working for business woman Kavita Oberoi.
Lee Brownlie, 26, was taking part in the pilot for the Kavita Oberoi and BSDC Enterprise Academy.
One of the first students to have taken part in the pilot, which gives students an opportunity to work with companies during their studies, Lee undertook a market research placement with Kavita’s leading healthcare company, Oberoi Consulting, researching new developments in the health care industry and future growth for the business.
Kavita was so impressed with Lee’s work during the pilot, she has offered him a job with the company, alongside his Level 3 Business course.
Speaking about the success of the project, Kavita said: “I believe this is a natural progression for any employer who spots talent within their organisation. Lee did a fantastic job during his work placement for Oberoi Consulting, providing me with valuable information and contacts to future-proof my business. Lee has brought a willingness to learn and fresh ideas to the business and I am delighted to offer him a job so he can continue his excellent work.”
Lee said: “I had a personal interest in the research I was involved in as it was linked to the medication I have taken myself for my heart condition. I have really enjoyed taking part in the project and it’s brilliant to have been offered a job at the end of it.
“It just goes to show that there are opportunities out there, even in the current economic climate. I would encourage both businesses and learners to take part in the Kavita Oberoi Enterprise Academy; if you put in the hard work and effort, you can reap the rewards.”
Kavita Oberoi is one of the country’s most successful female entrepreneurs. She is the Founder and Managing Director of Pride Park’s Oberoi Consulting and is widely known from her appearance on Channel 4’s hit show, The Secret Millionaire.
Kavita also recently launched the Oberoi Business Hub at Pride Park, providing flexible workspace, mentoring and funding for start-up businesses and SMEs. The Academy and services will also be launched to all businesses currently part of the Hub.
The Kavita Oberoi Enterprise Academy is a joint initiative by Kavita Oberoi and Burton and South Derbyshire College, inspiring the next generation of entrepreneurs. The market research project was the first placement to come out of the new academy, which is set to be officially launched in November.
Kavita added: “The new Enterprise Academy will not only give young people the opportunity to work on live projects for real businesses, it will give companies the chance to develop projects and innovations that will keep them ahead of their competitors.”Back
