Firm pledge's funds from city event

A new charity is to receive its first donation from the company which founded it.

TheMainEvent Group will donate some of the profits from Labyrinth, a Nottingham city-wide event taking place on 6 October, to the TME Foundation.

Labyrinth participants pay £20 to take part. The top prize is £1,000.

Jenna Tomlinson, 24-year-old Director of TheMainEvent Group Ltd, said: “Labyrinth is a unique concept, the first of its kind that the public can compete in for the chance to win a substantial cash prize.

"We had the initial concept in mind for a while but couldn't get it off the ground as quickly as we wanted to as gaining the funding for a start-up business that’s in an emerging market is virtually impossible.

Now that the event is launching we wanted to play our part in helping other entrepreneurs get their innovative idea up and running.

"When looking at what charity to support, we couldn't find one that fitted our needs. So we decided to launch a foundation that would benefit small businesses by awarding micro-grants to help out in those all important early stages.”

Initially, funds for the Foundation will come from the profits of all the companies within TheMainEvent Group.
