NNC students start site visits
Thirty construction students and apprentices from North Nottinghamshire College have started a series of site visits to the new Morrisons store that is being built in Worksop to gain a greater insight into industry practices.
The College has teamed up with contractors Bowmer & Kirkland to arrange the site visits where students will learn more about the different construction processes as well as health and safety on site.
NNC Construction Lecturer Martin Lane said: “We are extremely grateful to Bowmer & Kirkland for this opportunity to bring students onto the site so that they can see first-hand what goes into such an extensive construction project.”
Among the first students to visit the site were Curtis Baines, 19, from Worksop, and local apprentice Ryan Jackson, 19, from Retford.
Curtis said: “I really enjoyed the visit and it has helped me understand much better the work we have been doing at College.”
Ryan added: “I now have a much better understanding of working practices on larger sites which I don’t normally see during my own job.”Back
