Belarusian Ambassador Meets DNCC
A senior diplomat from the eastern European nation of Belarus met with DNCC Chief Executive George Cowcher and the Chamber's international trade team recently to discuss potential trading opportunities.
An agreement to establish closer links between DNCC and its sister organisation in Minsk was reached during the visit to Nottingham last week of Sergei Aleinik, who holds the grand title of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to the UK. He was accompanied by Vitali Shumski, Head of the Trade and Economic Group at the Embassy of Belarus in the United Kingdom.
They met with Mr Cowcher, DNCC's acting Head of International Trade David Hood, Lord Mayor of Nottingham Merlita Bryan and Nottingham City Council Chief Executive Ian Curryer at the Chamber's offices on the NG2 business park.
The parties discussed ways to intensify cooperation between Minsk and Nottingham, which have been maintaining twin town relations for more than 45 years.
Discussions centred on issues of cooperation in urban infrastructure and transport, development of trade, economic, educational and scientific relations between the establishments of this region and Belarus. The presentations of economic and investment potential confirmed the interest in organising joint events and strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation with Belarusian partners.Back
