Smallman steps in to help charity event
Refurbishment company Smallman & Son, of Syston, lent a helping hand when Babington Community College students organised a charity talent event.
The “Simply Talents” event was held at the newly built Community College and showcased the talents of a number of students at the college, who put themselves forward to take part in the competition.
The event, last month, included solo and group singing and dancing performances and raised funds for the Mtwapa Academy, Kenya, a charity that the College has supported for a number of years.
Alexandra Kowalczuk, Head of Business Development at Smallman & Son, said: “We do like to support Chamber initiatives wherever we can and so working through our corporate social responsibility programme we thought this would be an excellent way to share our project management skills with the students so as to help them arrange this event for the College.
"We worked with the students over a period of six months, donating a number of hours to guide them through the various components of project management so they were able to stage the Charity Event in December.
"We were delighted to be involved with this Community Event which not only helped the students gain confidence but helped them to develop many skills that are required in business today.”Back
