Top honour for Buxton campus chef lecturer
Leonard, who is senior culinary lecturer at the University’s Buxton campus, has been awarded the Fellowship of the Institute for his industry background and inspiring the industry’s future leaders.
Before becoming an academic, Leonard worked in luxury boutique hotels and restaurants in Italy, the UK - including the Michelin-starred Fischer’s at Baslow Hall - and at private country clubs in the United Sates.
The Institute’s Peter Ducker said: “Fellowship is the highest honour we bestow on members. Fellows must demonstrate not only experience and seniority, but also that they have made a real and personal contribution to our industry.”
He added: “The institute's College of Fellows requires not only proof of that contribution but also peer recognition from existing Fellows. Leonard's commitment to educating and inspiring tomorrow's leaders is a fine example.”
Leonard, who has been a member of the Institute since his student days, said: “I come from an Italian family, so I grew up in a kitchen.
“I enjoy the teaching because you see the students progress and mature as professionals, not only as great ambassadors for this industry but also for the University of Derby.”Back
