Builder seeks a dozen apprentices
Barratt Developments, is seeking a dozen keen learners hoping to join the home building industry.
Recently named Employer of the Year at the National Apprentices Awards, the company seeks to recruit 12 apprentice bricklayers and joiners at developments across Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire.
The company, which owns Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes, specifically seeks bricklayers and joiners to work across the region.
Richard Brooke, Managing Director of Barratt & David Wilson Homes’ East Region, said, “This is a highly exciting time of growth for our industry, and we want to invite anybody with an interest in construction to consider applying for apprenticeships with us and help us build our quality new homes.”
Each apprentice will work on an assigned development in the region for part of their working week, as well as taking part in classroom-based learning at a local college.
Moneeb Tajmal, an apprentice bricklayer from Burton-upon-Trent, joined the company last summer and has been working at the Castle Heights development in Church Gresley, Derbyshire, ever since.
“I’m enjoying every minute here while also learning new skills every day,” said Moneeb, 18, adding: "I want to complete my apprenticeship and hopefully stay on with the company.”
Recently named a Top 100 Apprenticeship Employer, Barratt Developments has created more than 3,000 jobs in the past year alone and has pledged to take on 1,100 apprentices, graduates and trainees between 2014 and 2016.
