Countess to attend reinterment of Richard III
The Dean of Leicester is delighted to announce that Her Royal Highness The Countess of Wessex is to attend the Reinterment Service for King Richard lll on Thursday 26 March at Leicester Cathedral.
She will be joined by their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester.
In his capacity as Patron of the Richard III Society, Prince Richard, The Duke of Gloucester will also be attending Compline, the Service of Reception on Sunday 22 August at Leicester Cathedral.
The Very Revd David Monteith, Dean of Leicester, said: ‘We are highly delighted and honoured to receive three members of the Royal Family to the reinterment of King Richard. I know that our city and county will offer a very warm welcome to our principal guests."
Businesses in Leicester are supporting the King Richard III Appeal by helping to fund two new stained glass windows which will tell the story of Richard III's life, death, discovery and reburial.
Richard's tomb, ambulatory and the windows will be a tourist attraction projected to bring in an additional £5m to the city and county each year.
