Nominated for Dignity in Care Award
Two Learning Support Assistants at Burton and South Derbyshire College have been shortlisted for awards in the Staffordshire Dignity Awards.
Lucy Sharratt and Simon Scattergood have both been shortlisted in the Outstanding Example Social Care Worker of the Year category for making a difference to people, demonstrating best practice through their daily work and the support they give to others.
Organised by Staffordshire County Council, the Dignity in Care Awards 2014/15 will be an opportunity to celebrate people in Staffordshire who put dignity at the heart of the care and support they give.
The awards promote community support services that are of the highest quality, demonstrating respect, dignity and fairness. Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony at Staffordshire County Showground on Wednesday 25 March.
Their nominator, Learning for Life Lecturer at Burton and South Derbyshire College, Margot Nicolle, said: “Lucy and Simon provide an exemplary level of support to learners, primarily with learning difficulties and/or disabilities in the College’s Foundation Learning Department. Both Learning Support Assistants provide an outstanding level of support to all learners.
“Students respond particularly well to the thoroughly reliable and committed care both bring to the role on a daily basis. They are caring, considerate, non-judgmental and always prepared to ‘go the extra mile’. We are delighted they have been nominated for the award and wish them the best of luck for the award ceremony.”Back
