Procurement event draws delegates

Procurement event BakewellEast Midlands Chamber, in partnership with three local authorities (Derbyshire Dales, High Peak, and Derbyshire County) and the University of Derby in Buxton, held an event today aimed at providing Peak District firms with the knowledge and information they need to help them pitch for locally-available public sector contracts.

The seminar, held in Bakewell Town Hall’s Assembly Hall, attracted 70 delegates from small businesses and social enterprises, and featured presentations and an informal Q&A session allowing them to engage with the speakers.

The Chamber's tender alerts service was also described to help empower an audience seeking to understand the procurement process, which many find a burden in terms of the time, cost and complexity.procurement event

The seminar’s aim was to dismiss some common misconceptions with clarification about the process, as well as showcasing best-practice exemplars and where the contracts are advertised.

The Chamber is keen to ensure that local authorities are transparent in their procurement processes and enable more local firms to feel confident about tendering for more local contracts.
