Energy provider chooses charity to support
Nottingham-based, Yü Energy is stepping up its charity work by backing cancer treatment centre, Maggie’s Nottingham.
The independent energy provider has chosen the local charity Maggie’s and staff are now looking forward to helping with fundraising and volunteering for the centre as its chosen charity for the year.
Built in the grounds of Nottingham City Hospital, Maggie’s offers free practical, emotional and social support to people with cancer and their families and friends.
Yü Energy’s managing director, Bobby Kalar said: “We have heard a lot about the great work that Maggie’s do, not only in Nottingham but also across the country and having met with them, we knew that they were the right charity for us.”
Mr Kalar added: “We wanted to go beyond just handing over a novelty-sized cheque once a year to actually get involved by helping at sessions, volunteering, as well as the obvious monetary contribution and Maggie’s ticked all of those boxes. We’re really looking forward to helping Maggie’s in any way we can whilst also helping the service users that use this wonderful facility.”
Kate Martin, Centre Head at Maggie’s, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to have been chosen as Yü Energy’s charity of the year. Not only will their support help to raise vital funds to ensure the continuation of our much needed programme of support, but their approach of getting involved and volunteering at events will also be of great value and help to increase awareness of Maggie’s within the community, which is vital to the success of our centre. We cannot thank them enough.”Back
