Race day in memory of Jim Taylor
A race day is to be held in memory of the man who was behind much of the modern-day redevelopment of Nottingham city centre.
Jim Taylor, who was organising last year’s ‘Nottingham Means Business’ fixture when he passed away at the age of 65, oversaw the modernisation of the Lace Market district as planning and development chief at Nottingham City Council.
The Jim Taylor Memorial Race Day takes place this Friday (17 July). The Jim Taylor Memorial Handicap Stakes is one of the races.
Nottingham Means Business said: “Last year’s event was one Jim was working on just before he passed away. He was very passionate about it and wanted it to be a great success. Jim saw it as a great opportunity for members to entertain clients, investors or invite staff to what will be a great and relaxing social event in a fantastic setting. The event was a fabulous success and we are keen to make it an annual event in memory of Jim.”
Other highlights coming up this year at Nottingham Racecourse are: The BIG Macmillan Tea Party on Thursday, 30 July; Ladies’ Day on Friday, 14 August; and The Jockey Club Grassroots Finals Day on Wednesday, 30 September.Back
