Danaher & Walsh Named Business of the Year
The firm also collected the High Growth Business of the Year award at a gala dinner at Leicester’s Athena last night.
Danaher & Walsh was established in 1969 by Vera Danaher, the late Daniel Danaher Snr and Thomas and Michael Walsh. It has expanded rapidly to become a respected family-owned business operating throughout England.
Since the late ‘80s, the company has concentrated its activities in two key business areas.
Its civil engineering division has developed into a business that boasts an impressive client portfolio from the public and private sectors. It specialises in framework agreements, highways works including Section 278 agreements, bridgeworks, infrastructure, environmental and public realm works.
Its plant hire division provides an impressive range of modern plant and highly experienced operators to an ever-growing client list across the Midlands.
Receiving the award, Managing Director Dan Danaher, praised his team and described the accolade as “brilliant”. The company was one of nine to scoop an award on the night, as the Chamber celebrated the strength and successes of businesses across Leicester and Leicestershire.
Chamber President Liz Fothergill CBE said: “The Chamber’s congratulations go to all of this year’s winners. We had some stellar entries and the judging process was extremely tough, but all of the winning businesses thoroughly deserve their success.
“The standard of competition was extremely high, which clearly shows that, following a year in which the local economy has made remarkable progress, we have some real success stories of Leicestershire businesses doing well.
“Over the past 12 months, businesses in Leicestershire have been busy investing, innovating, exporting and growing and these awards are testament to the quality of businesses we have in this city and county.”
