Chamber Members Kick-off Festive Season in Leicester

Chamber Chief Executive Scott Knowles and President Jean Mountain with guestsMore than 400 local business leaders kicked-off the festive season in Leicester on Friday at the Chamber's annual Christmas lunch.

The event, which took place at Leicester City's King Power Stadium, was a chance for the local business community to enjoy an informal, seasonal get-together.

Chamber President Jean Mountain said the lunch was about "having fun, making new connections, socialising with old friends and celebrating the strengths and successes of the business community".

She said: "It has been another successful year for the chamber, and the region, which has seen many positive developments. The Chamber has made great strides here in Leicester over the past two years. We are now fully-integrated across the city and county and can deliver an enhanced level of service which adds real value to businesses of all sizes.

"A year ago, in partnership with the City Council, the Chamber took over site management of the new Leicester Food Park, a fantastic, custom-built facility aimed at helping local food and drink businesses to prosper and grow. The park has been a huge success. We’ve been at full tenancy for virtually the whole year and it has given us a platform to secure the contract to manage the new £6.3m Friars Mill site… an historic, 18th century factory complex on the banks of the River Soar, which the council has transformed into modern workspace.

"We’re looking forward to working in partnership with the council in the year ahead to make Friars Mill every bit as successful as the Food Park has been. We’re very grateful for the support of the local business community here in Leicester… and the other parts of the region which we serve… and you can rest assured that we will be doing all we can in the year ahead to deliver on our promise to all members: To Enhance East Midlands Businesses."
