Arriva introduces child tickets across Leicester

Under-16s in Leicestershire will now be able to travel for less, as Arriva introduces a brand new local area child day saver ticket.

From Saturday 3 September, the new flexible ticket offers children and young teenagers unlimited hop-on, hop-off travel, for a day.

Being sold for a limited time at the introductory price of just £3, Arriva hopes the ticket will help offer youngsters better, more affordable access to both schools and leisure activities, proving that with Arriva it’s always a case of ‘work, rest and play’.

Simon Mathieson, Area Managing Director for Arriva, said: “We’re committed to providing great transport at even greater prices, and understand the importance of investing in the younger generation if we want to ensure that bus travel is fit for the future.

“With this new ticket in Leicestershire we hope we’ll encourage many more young people to get out and about on our vast local network of frequent, affordable bus routes, so that they can see just how far an Arriva bus can take them.”

The ticket offers an affordable local alternative for the Midlands-wide child day ticket, which currently costs £4.10. The new ticket will be valid in Leicester Zones One or Two, and available for £3 until 30 October only, after which the fare will be altered to £3.50. Children travelling between Zones across Leicestershire should still use the Midlands child day ticket.
