New polymer £10 note enters circulation
A new £10 note entered circulation yesterday.
It is made from polymer, is similar in design to the polymer £5 notes and includes raised dots to help blind people identify the note.
The existing paper notes will be phased out next spring - the precise date will be announced three months before final withdrawal.
The new note features novelist Jane Austen.
"The new £10 note celebrates Jane Austen's work. Austen's novels have a universal appeal and speak as powerfully today as they did when they were first published," said Bank of England Governor Mark Carney.Back
