Breakfast with the Small Business Commissioner

Chamber members are being urged to take part in a breakfast meeting with the Small Business Commissioner.

Established under the Enterprise Act 2016, the SBC is a new statutory body that is part of a package of measures to tackle late and unfair payment practices, and improve the business environment for the UK’s 5.5m small and medium-sized businesses.

Research shows that a third of payments to small businesses are late. Around 20% of small businesses have run into cashflow problems due to late payments and if small businesses were paid on time it could boost the economy by an estimated £2.5 billion annually.

The Small Business Commissioner has responsibility for advising, signposting and dealing with complaints from small businesses (those with up to 50 employees) across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland in connection with their supplier relationships with their larger business customers (over 50 employees).

The SBC, in partnership with Harborough District Council, is inviting businesses to the breakfast meeting to discuss the free services it provides to the help small firms resolve business to business payment disputes and drive cultural change around disputes.

The event will run from 8am-10am on Monday 26 March at the Harborough Innovation Centre, Airfield Business Park, Leicester Road, Market Harborough, LE16 7WB.

Refreshment and breakfast will be provided. Places are limited so booking is essential via http://bit.ly/2G70qiZ.
