Consultation on anti-competitive 'dumping' post-Brexit
The Government is gathering evidence to support protection of domestic producers against unfair foreign practices in a post-Brexit economy.
It is setting up its own Trade Remedies Authority, which will seek to prevent uncompetitive behaviour such as ‘dumping’ – where foreign businesses flood domestic markets with cut-price goods in a bid to kill off another country’s manufacturing capabilities.
EU measures currently offer protection to UK markets, but won’t apply after Brexit.
The Government has been consulting on which existing EU measures will still be relevant to the UK post-Brexit – the provisional findings can be found at https://bit.ly/2NFQxv5.
Some products might not be protected not be once we have left the EU – unless UK producers are identified.
If your company produces any of the products listed below, contact traderemedies@trade.gov.uk by noon on 24 August 2018. For more information contact lizzy.hawkins@trade.gsi.gov.uk.
