Get to know the support out there

Derby Hub has joined forces with Small Business Saturday UK Champions, Yvonne Gorman of Essential Print Services and the University of Derby to bring you a free event on Saturday 7 December.

Small Business Saturday is an annual campaign that celebrates small business success and encourages consumers to shop local.

The event is being ran as an extended version of the Derby Hub meetings, which will include a business exhibition of Derby Hub members and local companies, networking opportunities, presentations and free workshops.

There will also be the opportunity for delegates to win a ‘Golden Ticket’ to pitch their business to the congregation.

Bev Crighton, External Engagement Lead at the University of Derby said: “The University of Derby is proud to be an integral part of the business community in our city and region, and we’re pleased to support the Small Business Saturday UK event.

“There will be opportunities for businesses to engage with our students, many of whom are aspiring entrepreneurs currently taking part in our ‘Be the Boss’ programme, which encourages students to start their own business.”

Yvonne also commented: “Based on the success of last year’s event, I’m excited about collaborating with Derby Hub and the University of Derby again. I am proud to be one of the founder members of Derby Hub, and I’m passionate about the consistent support it provides for new and existing companies alike – I can’t wait for visitors to sample the atmosphere of a Derby Hub meeting.”

This Chamber, the D2N2 Growth Hub and the D2 Business Starter Project will be supporting the event once again this year. It is a fantastic opportunity for small businesses to see the support which is on offer at their doorsteps.
