Chamber reacts to Chancellor’s additional coronavirus measures
Following Rishi Sunak’s announcement that Government will provide an initial £330bn package to support businesses through the evolving coronavirus situation, Scott Knowles, Chief Executive at East Midlands Chamber*, said:
“These are unprecedented times and in many respects this is an unprecedented – and welcomed – intervention.
“Businesses of all sizes and sectors across the East Midlands and UK are facing very real short, medium and long-term pressures and the measures outlined by Mr Sunak were both bold and necessary.
“However, businesses are experiencing challenges right now and it is absolutely critical that the roll out of these measures is conducted efficiently and without delay to ensure that both employers and employees can be reassured in what are uncertain and challenging times.
“It will become evident shortly whether today’s measures are sufficient to provide essential aid to businesses at this critical time.
“We would continue to urge businesses to stay abreast of the developing situation and refer to the steady flow of information and support available from Government and relevant bodies.
“The Chamber will continue to provide daily support for businesses and will be updating its coronavirus hub on a regular basis.”Back
