Powerplus Group work with MegaClose to deliver modern student accommodation development in the city

Nottingham based infrastructure specialists Powerplus Group has secured its latest major project, delivering part of a brand new student accommodation development in the heart of the city.

Having established a reputation for delivering innovative and sustainable solutions in all aspects of mechanical, electrical and lighting projects, Powerplus Group will work with student accommodation provider MegaClose on the latest development. The modern 69-bed project will mark another step towards recognising Nottingham as the UK’s leading university city, with a popularity that’s continued to grow thanks to the thriving student community and consistent success of its two universities.

The development will stand in the city centre location of Glasshouse Street, immersed fully in the focal point for student culture and the city’s thriving higher education establishments. The development is yet another example of MegaClose’s realised vision of providing a wide range of high-quality accommodation, within a half-mile radius of the universities.

Powerplus Group director, Luke Handley commented: “Working with fantastic local clients such as Megaclose gives Powerplus Group a fantastic opportunity to deliver mechanical, electrical and plumbing services on high-profile schemes within key sectors, such as student accommodation. We’re very much looking forward to offering MegaClose a comprehensive high-quality solution, on time and within budget. We’re looking forward to the opportunity to develop a long-standing business relationship across this and other projects.”

Powerplus Group took on a full MEP design consultancy role for this project, redesigning the original scheme with careful liaison with MegaClose in order to fully meet the employer’s requirements, in budget and on time. Works include mechanical and electrical installations, room fit-outs, safety systems, modern bathrooms and plant. Starting in June, the project has a delivery date of October 2020 completion, in order to be ready for students for the 2020/21 educational year.

Lewis Quayle, Powerplus Group's business development manager, added: “Powerplus Group is delighted to have secured and commenced works on yet another student accommodation scheme in Nottingham. With Powerplus being a local Nottingham business, we are always delighted to contribute to our great city’s improvement plans - especially with the local economy boost offered by students moving into the City to study at our fantastic Universities. It’s a great pleasure to be involved with schemes like this.”
