Leicester Business Festival is back for 2020 - with business support on offer
Leicester Business Festival will be held once again this year – with backing from East Midlands Chamber.
Like many events, much of the week-long gala will move online, but continues to play an important part in helping to re-energise and revive the city’s business community during the pandemic.
More than 100 free sessions will be held from 2 to 13 November, with nearly 40 offering business support in a variety of ways. They include:
- Identifying which type of insurance a business needs
- What to expect from an accountancy service
- Getting access to finance and grants
- Demystifying business contracts
- How to turn ideas into reality
- What to look for to avoid website hacks
Several events aim to support businesses through the pandemic, such as the impact on opportunities for growth, managing change in uncertain times, adapting employee engagement in a pandemic and implications on corporate governance.
The Leicester & Leicestershire Enterprise Partnership (LLEP) will also share a preview of the region’s economic recovery plan.
East Midlands Chamber on why Leicester Business Festival is a 'special event'
De Montfort University is the headline partner of the festival, with events run by independent companies and Leicestershire’s main business support groups, including East Midlands Chamber, Leicestershire’s Business Gateway Growth Hub and Federation of Small Businesses (FSB).
Chamber chief executive Scott Knowles said: “The Leicester Business Festival is always a special event that showcases the world-class innovation and creativity existing across Leicestershire, but this year it’s even more important to have such a positive platform that will highlight the services and products available for aiding business development – vital resources for the firms now seeking to get on with their economic recovery.”
Neil McGhee, chairman of the Business Gateway Growth Hub Board, said: “We are delighted to be involved with Leicester Business Festival 2020.
“Regardless of size, all businesses can benefit from the wide range of events, many of which will focus on business recovery and growth during this difficult time. If you’re unsure what the Business Gateway Growth Hub is, we are a service providing free comprehensive business support, advice and access to funding for your business via a team of skilled business advisers.”
Jennifer Thomas, development manager for Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and Rutland at the FSB, added “There’s never been a more urgent time to focus on supporting our local business community.
“Small businesses will be the key to our economic recovery over the coming months and years and for them to do that, they need support. However, the business support landscape across the UK can be complex and difficult for SMEs to understand and access, which is why FSB is so supportive of the Leicester Business Festival.”
The Leicester Business Festival 2020 digital brochure has now been released, featuring news, events listings and information about the support available.
Events, the majority of which will be held virtually, are free and can be booked here. Tickets must be reserved in advance and can be booked online until the day before each event.
The festival was originally established by the LLEP in 2015 and handed over to the Leicester Business Festival Community Interest Company, under which it still operates, in 2017. It is run in association with Associate Events, with East Midlands Chamber and Business Gateway Growth Hub both partners.
