We all experience stress in our lives when facing professional and personal challenges. Our life experiences, personality, upbringing, and environment all affect our health and wellbeing and can influence how we think, feel, and respond to situations.

Research indicates that many health problems are caused or influenced by stress and therefore it is important to understand how stress affects your body and learn effective stress management techniques to transform stress so that it does not have an adverse effect on your wellbeing.

The Health and Wellbeing 2021 report (CIPD Survey) found that stress continues to be one of the main causes of short and long-term absence in the workplace.

Workloads remain by far the most common cause of stress at work, followed by management style as reported previously. The COVID-19 pandemic has created additional causes of stress, which also feature among the top causes of stress at work. As in previous years, relationships, at and outside work, are also commonly blamed for stress, as are personal and health issues.

Stress is your body’s response to changes in your life. You can experience stress due to changes in your daily routines or changes that bring with it uncertainty, the unknown and a loss of control. The aim is to learn skills to eliminate unnecessary stress by building personal resilience.

This is a 6-hour interactive workshop, delivered in two 3-hour sessions and explores the science behind stress and resilience and identify short, medium and long term strategies for transforming stress and building personal resilience.

Who should attend this workshop?

This workshop is aimed at those who want to understand how to implement and practice personal strategies to maintain personal effectiveness, productivity, and wellbeing.

Please note that this workshop is open to trading SMEs based in Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire. Businesses located outside of this area will be unable to attend and instead directed to alternative support.

  • The science behind the stress response and the link between the heart and brain

  • The link between self-efficacy and resilience

  • Identify short, medium and long term strategies for building personal resilience

  • Key thinking traps and developing realistic optimism

  • The importance of values and how they support personal resilience
