£24m of government spending aimed at easing congestion on the A614 and A6097 between Ollerton and Lowdham has been welcomed by East Midlands Chamber. The funding will be added to £10m from Nottinghamshire County Council and £7.5m from the East Midlands Combined County Authority.
Funding announced by the Department for Transport will be used on improvements to five junctions: Ollerton roundabout, White Post roundabout, Warren Hill junction, Lowdham roundabout and Kirk Hill junction.
The £24m government investment forms part of £92bn announced in the Spending Review for road and rail projects in various parts of the country.
East Midlands Chamber Director of Policy and Insight Richard Blackmore said: “Good connectivity is essential for economic growth, so any investment that can improve sluggish journey times on congested routes is something I welcome, as is any investment that makes it easier for people to get to and from work and creates greater opportunities for employers to widen the talent pool.
“With Nottinghamshire a major contributor to the UK economy, prioritising upgrades to transport infrastructure is a positive forward step.”
