This forum aims to support regional retrofit skills development, part of its push is to support green skills in the district and region, specifically relating to Retrofit Skills.

Bolsover District Council will be the lead partner on behalf of councils, colleges, universities, independent training providers and retrofit and associated employers from across Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.

The forums will ensure that business needs are fully represented which includes identifying key challenges, gaps and pinch points for the retrofit and energy efficiency sectors.

AGENDA:

- Delivering Warm Homes in the East Midlands: A Contractor’s View, E.ON (TBC)

Warm Homes represents a significant shift in how decarbonisation is delivered at scale across the region. In this session, E.ON will provide a principal contractor perspective on what Warm Homes means for the East Midlands supply chain i.e delivery expectations, compliance standards, funding mechanisms and performance requirements. Also, mobilisation challenges, quality assurance expectations, data and reporting requirements, and how contractors can position themselves to deliver successfully under Warm Homes programmes.


- From Assessment to Action: Designing Effective Retrofit Solutions – Edi Skrbo, Retrofit Assessor, Crawford & Co

Effective retrofit begins long before installation - an insight into the critical role of retrofit assessment, coordination and design in delivering compliant and effective decarbonisation outcomes.

Also exploring PAS 2035 requirements, whole-house assessment principles, measure interaction, sequencing, and common design pitfalls, providing clarity on how assessors, coordinators and contractors must collaborate to ensure measures are technically appropriate, resident-focused and funding-compliant.

- On the Tools: Installing Retrofit Measures with Quality, Compliance and Care –Madi Sharma, Compliance Officer, LJM Solutions Ltd

Overview from an installer’s perspective delivering renewable and retrofit measures in occupied homes, focusing on quality control, compliance, resident engagement and “right first time” delivery.

Also practical site challenges, documentation, audit readiness, in-house workforce management, and the importance of maintaining standards at pace. Reflections on how installers can strengthen collaboration across the supply chain to build capacity.

- 'Engaging with SMEs' Mike Siebert, Nottingham Trent University – developing a solution for a 'One Stop Shop Signposting Portal' and aiming to pilot in the retrofit sector.
