Nottinghamshire Business Awards 2020

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Nottinghamshire Business Awards this year. It was great to see finalists supporting each other and cheering them on. Even though current operating conditions are difficult the sense of community remains strong.

Awards Categories

Business Improvement through Technology

Air IT logoThis award recognises organisations that have integrated technology into the way they work, to help them grow their business. Entrants for this award must demonstrate how they have used the power of technology to work more effectively and increase their ability to meet the needs of their customers. Businesses will need to demonstrate the effect that the technology has had on their work.

Community Impact

This award recognises businesses, charities and social enterprises that have implemented Corporate Social Responsibility as part of their business planning. Entrants will showcase how they identified, and made a positive impact on issues within their local community. Businesses will demonstrate not only the impact their actions have had, but also the process that went into the planning of their CSR activites.

Outstanding Growth

RSM logoThis award is open to businesses of all sizes and rewards those that have experienced exceptional growth in sales, profit, market share, jobs or international trade. Finalists will also need to demonstrate how the plans they have in place to make sure that the growth is sustainable.

Environmental Impact *** NEW ***

The Environmental Impact Award will be awarded to an organsation which has put environmental sustainability at the core of its business. The winning business will demonstrate a measureable commitment to making a positive impact on the environment.

Generation Next ***NEW***

Open to young professionals aged between 18-35 who can demonstrate clear and rapid progress within their field of work. The individual will be responsive to challenges in business, innovative and creative with solutions – an instrumental resource contributing to the success of their business and wider community.

Winner: Leah Binney – TTK Confectionery

Finalists: Hannah Hickman – Mansfield Innovation Centre, Lewis Quayle – Powerplus Group and Katie Gilbert – TTK Confectionery

Commitment to People Development

The winner of this award will showcase a commitment to the development of staff through the promotion of a learning and
development culture and employee wellbeing.

Apprentice of the Year

The Apprentice of the Year category celebrates the business leaders of the future. The award recognises the rising stars of business who have made an outstanding contribution to the organisation they work in. Finalists will demonstrate how they have shown exceptional progress during the past year.

Entrepreneur of the Year

This Award recognises a dynamic and creative business leader. The winner will showcase their drive, tenacity, vision and an Evershedsability to provide inspirational leadership.

Education and Business Partnership

Aimed at schools, colleges and further education providersthat engage effectively with business, this award recognises those which can demostrate partnership working with local businesses and how they help pupils develop crucial employability skills valued by employers.

Excellence in Customer Service

Recognising organisation with a focus on customer service and care, this award has been designed for businesses which can demonstrate excellence and a commitment to exceeding customer expectations.

Excellence in International Trade

DHL logoThis award recognises the strength of local businesses which trade internationally. Entrants must demonstrate how their objectives and strategies have generated significant and/or sustained increases in their international activity.

Small Business of the Year

NTU logoThis award - open to organisations employing up to 75 full-time members of staff - will go to a company that has achieved consistent growth backed by strong financial performance. Entrants will demonstrate current activity to grow market share and the effect this is havong on business performance.

Innovation in Manufacturing

This award recognises manufacturers with a track record of innovation, efficiency, sustainability and profitability. Entrants must be able to demonstrate the success of the products they manufacture, along with the strength of their presence in the UK and/or overseas.

Business of the Year

Mazars logoThe Business of the Year award sponsored by Mazars is chosen by the judges from the winners of the other indivudal award categories. The business of the year will be awarded to a business which has shown excellence in their field and is an exemplar to all other businesses within Derbyshire. It will showcase the quality of businesses and the expertise within the county.
