Charitable Fund and Community Foundations

Get involved in local campaigns and activities that benefit businesses and the whole community

The Chamber’s case studies showcase a wide range of innovative and successful community initiatives. You can make a difference individually, or your business can gain access to corporate social responsibility (CSR) opportunities. Together, we can make positive changes that help local people and shape the future of our communities.

Where you give is always your choice, but there are very many local charities in our region, doing great often “hidden” work, from the most challenging issues such as homelessness and unemployment, to “quality of local life” such as the natural environment, sports and the arts. Because national charities have higher profiles and bigger teams, local charities often miss out on money, but they are well worth your consideration.

Regional Community Foundations

A place to start are the regional Community Foundations, which offer a neutral “gateway” to local charities, with affordable, effective services to enable your social engagement and giving.  They can set up your own named, directed and tracked grant-giving fund, for the short or long-term, and all offer local  “crowd” funds such as 1% Matters, Foundation Derbyshire General Fund and the Making Local Life Better Fund. They also have recently funded groups on their websites, if you don’t want a service and just want to browse.

Where to find your local Community Foundation

Finally, the East Midlands Chamber Charitable Fund supports local charities in Chamber membership, chosen by the Chamber’s President each year, and you can find out more here – https://www.emc-dnl.co.uk/chamber-charitable-fund/
