This one-day course extends the learner's basic knowledge of Excel and provides the learner with skills and knowledge to produce more effective and productive workbooks.

It covers formulas and function techniques, more intricate formatting, setting complex printing options, using intricate charting features, and working more effectively with existing worksheets and workbooks.

  • Logical and lookup functions (including Vlookup)
  • Filtering data

Course Timings

The day will be split into five sessions, with breaks inbetween to allow time away from the screen.

Session 1 - 9.00am - 10.00am

Session 2 - 10.30am - 11.30am

Session 3 - 12.00pm - 1.00pm

Session 4 - 2.00pm - 3.00pm

Session 5 - 3.30pm - 4.30pm

Course outcome

On completion of this course you should be able to use the fill operations available; understand and use absolute and relative formula referencing; sort data in a worksheet; use a range of logical and lookup functions; work with a variety of elements in a worksheet; work with more than one workbook at a time and filter large amounts of data in a table.

Who should attend

The course is designed for existing users of Excel who would like to expand their skills and knowledge and learn more of the techniques associated with creating better and more productive workbooks. This is a "packed" course and due to the level of content, not all topics may be covered (to be agreed during training).

Course delivery

This course is being delivered online and is fully interactive, you will be expected to have your camera on during the training.

A joining link will be sent around a week before the course start date. It is suggested that delegates take notes throughout. Time will be provided for practicing and recapping along with Q & A.


A laptop or PC running the latest version of Excel will be required

The tutor for the course is Martin Perry who has many years experience as an IT Trainer. Martin's courses are geared to ensuring all delegates walk away with new skills regardless of their ability when they arrived. All courses are delivered in such a way that delegates continually use Excel throughout the day ensuring maximum hands on experience.
