Description

Back by popular demand, held in partnership with BRM Solicitors and Hays, this is their annual Mock Employment Tribunal event.

We will hear the fictional case of a young female employee who alleges that she is experiencing sexual harassment in the workplace at the hands of her manager. When questioned on this by the employer, the manager alleges this is simply banter, that the female employee happily engaged in it and it is nothing sinister.

Overview

Arrival from 8:30am for networking and breakfast, for a prompt 9:00am start.

Overview of the case:

A young female employee alleges that she is experiencing sexual harassment in the workplace at the hands of her manager. When questioned on this by the employer, the manager alleges this is simply banter, that the female employee happily engaged in it and it is nothing sinister.

The case follows the steps taken by the employer when the female employee eventually raises a formal grievance when the sexual banter and inappropriate messages and images sent to her on social media and snapchat get too much for her to handle. The employee is ultimately not happy with the way in which her employer dealt with her grievances and resigns, bringing claims for constructive unfair dismissal and sex discrimination and victimisation, which the Mock Employment Tribunal is asked to consider.
