Held in partnership with Derbyshire County Council and delivered by the University of Derby, this session is designed to strengthen Derbyshire’s position as a hub for advanced manufacturing by equipping local SMEs and micro-businesses with the knowledge, skills, and connections they need to thrive.

By focusing on practical, actionable content, participants will leave with tools and strategies they can immediately apply to grow and compete in this high-value sector.

Each session will run for three hours and combine expert insights, real-world case studies, and interactive exercises to deliver maximum impact. Together, these sessions will help businesses build resilience, improve competitiveness, and contribute to the long-term growth of the advanced manufacturing sector in Derbyshire.

Overview

Dr Sammar Javed will host a workshop to discuss:

- Introduction to Industry 4.0 and its relevance for SMEs.
- Affordable digital tools for automation, IoT, and data analytics.
- How digital adoption improves efficiency and competitiveness.
- Cybersecurity essentials for small businesses.
- Practical steps to assess digital readiness and create an action plan.
- Funding and support available for digital transformation.
- Examples of SMEs that have successfully implemented digital solutions.

Outcome: Participants will gain actionable insights into digital adoption, security, and funding opportunities to future-proof their businesses.
